Frank Presley's 'Now's the Time' is one of the longest running weekly jazz programs on Australian public radio. Frank commenced broadcasting at the age of 24 from the studios of 2BBB Bellingen in 1991 and soon after commenced a weekly radio program 'Now's the Time' broadcast from 2NVR Nambucca Valley Radio. In 1993, 'Now's the Time' continued broadcasting from 2WAY FM Port Macquarie where it attracted corporate sponsorship from major wine producer Cassegrain Wines.

During this period, Frank's travels took him to many of Europe's & North America's most celebrated jazz venues such as Bim Haus in Amsterdam, Quasimodo in Berlin, Unterfahrt in Munich, Reduta in Prague, Ronnie Scott's in London, the Village Vanguard in NYC and Snug Harbour in New Orleans to witness leading artists such as Lionel Hampton, Sonny Rollins, Lee Konitz, Michael and Randy Brecker, David Murray, Joe Zawinul, Dave Holland, Elvin Jones, Ron Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove and Nicholas Payton to name just a few. Frank also attended many of the world's most important jazz festivals such as the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Marciac Jazz Festival in France.

Shortly after returning, Frank commenced presenting 'Now's the Time' from 2BOB FM Taree which culminated in nationwide broadcast on the Community Radio Network exclusively on the Australian jazz program 'Tempo'.

These days 'Now's the Time' broadcasts every Monday night at 9pm from the North Shores FM 99.3 and he's proud that FM 99.3 has been his home since 2001. The diversity of 'Now's the Time' is far reaching with a strong focus on Australian jazz and the promotion of Sydney musicians of international standard.
Frank will continue to keep listeners up to date with where to find Sydney’s best live jazz, international jazz news, in depth interviews with a variety of guests and thousands of dollars worth of giveaways. You can expect to hear a strong Australian content from the Jazzgroove, Jazzhead, Rufus and Newmarket Record labels and international music from jazz scenes across the globe.

Some of Frank's guests over the years have included Australian jazz legend Don Burrows, Bells Award Hall of Famer Mike Nock, Bells Award winner Sandy Evans, jazz stylist & classical pianist Mark Isaacs and the daughter of Ol' Blue Eyes, Deana Sinatra.
Over the last 12 months Frank's guests have included Grammy Award winner Joe Lovano, saxophonist Blaine Whittaker, journalist John Shand, the legendary trumpeter Bob Barnard, leading jazz vocalist Vince Jones and Kenya’s foremost percussionist Bandika Ngao amongst many others.

Courtesy of Birdland Records Sydney, Frank presents the 'Album of the Month', which is a new release, hot off the press and the freshest sound in recorded jazz.

Frank respects the music's roots and presents 'Vital Vinyl’, a classic track taken from LP's sourced directly from Frank's extensive private collection.

Over the last 12 months Frank has offered over $5000 worth of prizes on 'Now's the Time', including double passes to concerts and theatre, CD's, books, dinners and gift vouchers.
Frank's album and concert reviews appear regularly on the website www.jazzandbeyond.com.au and monthly in the national periodical ABC Limelight magazine. Frank is the Editor of Australia’s Jazz Magazine www.jazzandbeyond.com.au and won the 2006 National Jazz Writing Competition awarded at the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz.

"This program is an afternoon of diverse music, both in terms of genre/artist/ and style.
My own musical tastes vary widely, but there are a few musical paths I don't follow. You won't hear opera/dance/grunge/punk/rap/hip hop/gangsta, or any of the more modern urban (read American) takes on the contemporary scene.
I think I probably reflect the tastes of many of my age group, but I know I have many older and considerably younger listeners.
The show exists to promote and publicise Australian music and musicians, and I'm keen to include interviews with them whenever possible.
My personal approach is to expose the listener to high quality selective music that isn't heard on commercial radio, and to provide relevant information about the muso/artist when required. My collection is weighted to the vocal performer, but since becoming part of the station, my exposure to the broad church of "contemporary jazz" has certainly broadened my horizons, and I'm still enormously keen to hear emerging voices, vocally and instrumentally.
Not having a musical background (either by choice or training), I come to this endeavour with a naive enthusiasm for the transformative power of music in all its forms to affect our lives. I can't imagine living without music, and I know there are millions like me."- Sharon Thompson
